Our ADHD assessment and treatment process is individualized and there is no set timeline. The time required varies by student and depends on factors such as scheduling availability and the amount of information needed to complete the evaluation.
How to Get Started
The ADHD assessment pathway can be accessed through any Student Health and Counseling clinical entry point, including dropping in to one of our offices without an appointment during normal business hours for care, through a primary care appointment with a medical care provider, and through a counseling appointment.

New to ADHD Care: Assessment Pathway
- Step 1: Initial Visit

Share your concerns with a clinician during a Drop-In visit, Primary Care appointment, or Counseling appointment. Your clinician will contact an administrative coordinator who will reach out to provide ADHD assessment measures and schedule a Behavioral Support Session.
- Step 2: Behavioral Support Session(s) - 60 minutes

This session provides short-term behavioral management and skill building, assistance in managing your ADHD assessment process and support in identifying ongoing resource needs. Students will be offered to schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
- Step 3: Schedule and Complete Your Testing - 180 minutes

Complete the ADHD testing measures at your own pace or schedule a 3-hour testing appointment at Student Health and Counseling. Testing includes validated questionnaires and a 20-minute computer-based objective measure. Once complete, you will be able to schedule an Assessment Review & Feedback Session.
- Step 4: Assessment Review & Feedback Session - 90 minutes

Once testing is complete, you will meet with a different clinician for a diagnostic interview and to review the results of your psychometric measures. You will receive a written report within two weeks of this session regardless of the diagnostic outcome.
- Step 5: Prescriber Session - 90 minutes

If you meet the criteria for ADHD and are interested in medication, you will be scheduled with a prescriber for assessment. Together, you will discuss treatment options.
If ADHD does not account for your concerns, our team will continue to work with you to understand your needs and connect you with the most appropriate treatment, support, and resources. Students will be offered to schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
