Phil serves as the Director of Counseling for Student Health and Counseling. Phil graduated from Harvard University, then went on to earn his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Some of Phil’s areas of expertise include: alcohol and drug treatment, chronic benign pain syndromes, as well as the relationship between mental health and academic performance.
Phil has been working at Penn since 2022 and his favorite parts of the job are working with students and collaborating with colleagues. Outside of work, Phil likes to spend time at museums, live theater, antiquing, seeing and studying anything old and historic, and long rides out to the countryside. In summer camp as a child he went on a field trip to Hyde Park, New York - the Roosevelt estate, and had a chance to shake hands with Eleanor Roosevelt!
