“i coach” is an interactive training aimed at helping faculty, staff, and student leaders slow down and offer guidance to students in a supportive way, instead of jumping straight to advice or quick fixes, which can sometimes leave students feeling disempowered.

What is the "i coach" framework?

Through the training, participants will develop coaching skills to empower students, not “fix” them:

C – Cultivate growth & success
O – Offer space with curiosity & care
A – Assisting students in achieving goals
C – Challenging them to reach potential
H – Honor time for reflection & connection

"i coach" teaches a coaching mindset

Through a coaching mindset, participants will learn how to:

  • Support students without swooping in to “rescue” them
  • Challenge them to grow without being judgmental
  • Hold space for them without trying to control the outcome

What will participants gain?

  • Clarity on how advising, counseling, and coaching are different
  • A solid grounding in the coaching mindset
  • Hands-on practice with skills like deep listening, the GROW model, and reflective inquiry
